Faith Enough

Ice is thin enough for walking,
Rope is worn enough to climb.
Throat is dry enough for talking,
World is crumbling, but I know why.

I come to you all with a dilemma. A question not made of outward appearance, but within ourselves. The answer to be found is one that is uncomfortable and unfounded. This is not going to be the answer you desire. In fact, it’s going to be one of discomfort and uneasiness. To hear and do that which is harsh. An answer I would like to share with you now.

Regarding the question of suffering is always difficult. Of all the different issues to write about… We could discuss this Christmas Day about the meaning of Christmas. Or perhaps the materialistic part of us as a people, and how we’ve turned into Christmas Day into a commercial holiday. No, we are not going to talk about that. Instead, we are to talk about answers from God we don’t want.

Two-thousand years ago, a baby boy came into this world. A world that was appalling, needy, and broken. This baby boy would come into the world, and nothing would be the same again. It was two-thousand years ago when Christ came into this world. He would come to bring peace between God and men. But such a journey would be a rough and tedious one for this young child. Though He would come to save the world, it would be this world who would reject Him. Isaiah 53:3 explains to us there would be a “man of sorrows” who would enter this world and save it. There were specifically two times when Jesus cried in scripture. One was when Lazarus was raised from the dead. Another was when He came to Jerusalem, and cried from the fact it would not accept it’s heavenly king.

We are to also point out the time when Jesus was about to be crucified, and He would sweat drops of blood. This is a bit of scripture from Luke 22:44. Such is known today as hematidrosis. This is caused when an individual is experiencing intense stress and severe mental anxiety. Capillary blood vessels that feed the sweat glands rupture, causing them to bleed. Soldiers before battle would experience this anxiety, as well as criminals before their execution.

The baby boy that would come into this world was to experience anxiety in an intense manner. It was through the shedding of his innocent blood that would redeem men, and give us another chance to see heaven. This Christmas Day, please pause for this young child. Have gratitude that such a boy would be willing to sacrifice Himself for our benefit.

Now that such is said, let us acknowledge the obvious. Tough times will come. We are preparing for a new year. This new year will bring tears of joy and tears of sadness. So what are we to do? Be at peace. God understands the suffering of this world. Know that He is with you, even in tough times. And He will always have open arms for you. This world has disease and death because of sin. But be of good cheer, because Christ has conquered the world. When tough times do come, let us be the noble people and do what is right. Let us be in such a way to make Christ happy. Tough times will come, but we as a people will be ready for them.

Confused enough to know direction,
Sun eclipsed enough to shine.
Be still enough to find me tremble,
See enough to know I’m blind.
